"Pop" Blind Rivets
Pop blind rivets are one-sided fasteners used to join materials when access is available only from one side. Each rivet consists of a tubular body and a mandrel; a pull-type installation tool draws the mandrel into the body, deforming it to form a blind-side bulge that clamps the workpieces together. They are available in a range of materials such as aluminum, steel, and stainless steel to suit different environmental and strength requirements. Common variants include standard round-head and countersunk styles, large-flange and multi-grip designs for variable material thicknesses, and sealed or closed-end types for applications where moisture exclusion is needed. Selection is based on material compatibility, grip range, and required shear and tensile performance. Pop blind rivets are widely used in sheet metal assembly, enclosures, ductwork, automotive and marine panels, and electrical housings where single-sided installation and quick, repeatable fastening are required. Installation leaves a formed blind-side profile; whether the mandrel is retained or expelled depends on the rivet style.
