"Metal To Wood" Blind Rivets
Metal to wood blind rivets are one-sided fasteners designed to join metal components to wood where access is available only from the metal side. The rivet consists of a tubular body and a mandrel; when pulled with a blind-riveting tool the mandrel draws into the body, causing it to deform and form a secure bulb on the wood side while compressing against the metal face. They are available in different head styles to suit flush or raised applications and in a range of lengths and diameters to match material thicknesses. Installation requires a drilled hole sized to the rivet and a compatible hand, battery, or pneumatic rivet tool. Selection of rivet and mandrel materials and any sealant should consider exposure and galvanic compatibility for outdoor or wet environments. Typical uses include attaching metal flashing, trim, brackets, or panels to wooden substrates in construction, cabinetry, and light structural assemblies where a blind-side fastener is required.
